Due to COVID-19 the details of class format is subject to change. Starting Feb. 24 the location
of the in-person classes is Mackenzie Community School.
In-person classes will follow protocols in alignment with the Government of Ontario, Renfrew County and District
Health Unit, Renfrew County District School Board and our governing sport organizations. As such protocols are subject to change and
might not follow those listed below. In the event that in-person classes cannot be held, we will switch to
Zoom-based classes. Zoom classes and in-person classes may follow different formats as a result of the COVID-19 protocols.
Participants must arrive at the premises in their uniforms, change rooms will not be available.
Participants shall receive a green check mark after completing the Ontario School COVID-19
online screening
the same day as every in-person class. Any symptomatic participant or a participant that has not completed
the screening will be turned away. To limit numbers, only the participant may enter. Parents and guardians shall pause long
enough (10 min. after scheduled start) to ensure their
child has not been denied entry and returned outside.
Participants are required to wear a face covering while on the Mackenzie premises (except to drink water). Warm up
activities may include hand contact with the floor. Students are expected to practice proper hand hygiene and
strive to maintain a minimum 2 m from all other karate-ka. Senseis may at times need to be closer
than 2 m for a brief period of time. Participants shall bring their own water.
All participants age 12 and older are
required by the Province of Ontario to
show proof of vaccination. You can download your
proof of vaccination here.
The province has provided this
Frequently Asked Queastions (FAQ) page.
Participants under age 12 are not required to show proof of vaccination to participate.
Be advised that the is recording whether we have seen proof of vaccination so that we do not have see it every time. Only a record that
Rogge Sensei has personnaly seen it is retained.
All of the Deep River Karate Club senseis are confirmed to be fully vaccinated.
Zoom classes will make use of Breakout Rooms for focused teaching and one-with-few interactions with a sensei.
To make the most of the Zoom classes students must be self-disciplined, continue to make the same effort expected
in the dojo. To the extent possible, arrange the home video environment to allow a full view of the student and
ideally offers area approximately 3 m wide and 3.5 m long. Larger is of course even better. In cases where
there is more than one student in the household and they are different belts, separate video links is desirable,
particularly for the breakout portions.
